  Q.  What does ZyLAB do?
  • ZyLAB develops and markets Information Access Solutions that enable users to digitally archive, search, investigate, organize, manage and share all their paper and electronic files, including multimedia and e-mail messages and their attachments, in a secure and stable XML based platform.

  • 1) ZyLAB customers don’t require a database for storage; all data is stored in an open XML framework: the ZyIMAGE Information Access Platform (IAP). Databases can certainly be used, but they are not mandatory.

  • ZyLAB has been in business for almost 25 years, having been founded in Chicago, IL, in 1983.

  Q.  How many languages does ZyLAB support?
  • For converting and researching information, ZyLAB supports over 200 languages, including Arabic, Farsi, Chinese, Japanese and Korean. With localized interface into 26 languages and now offer automatic translation capabilities for 30 languages to/from English.
  Q.  Can ZyLAB solutions be easily integrated with existing systems and
software?
  • ZyLAB software's open structure and open storage format makes it easily integrateable with existing systems such as CMS, CRM, ERP, HRM, Financial Systems and Portal Solutions.
  Q.  How do ZyLAB solutions address security issues?
  • ZyLAB offers a full set of security capabilities, from standard NTFS security to document-level security and functional security and user roles, all with optional automated synchronization with, for instance, users’ Active Directory. In high-security environments, the ZyLAB XML Repository can be transferred to a database environment to benefit from DMZ, VPN, encryption and additional security layers.
  Q.  Do you need a database to run ZyLAB solutions?
  • No. Databases are not used for data storage, although a search database (an index) is used. This database is not a traditional type with fixed records and fields; rather, it is a highly optimized search database suited for full-text retrieval. Several databases are used in the program to store additional structures, such as the table of contents, bookmarks and concepts. An option also exists to store key fields and data, if required. If additional security is needed, the ZyLAB XML Repository can be transferred to a database environment.
